Mumbai to Dubai Distance: Flight Time, Airports and Trip Plan

Quick Answer

  • The Mumbai to Dubai distance is about 1,930 km (1,200 miles) by air.

  • A nonstop flight takes roughly 3 to 3½ hours.

  • Mumbai's clocks run 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of Dubai's.

  • Door to door, we'd allow 10 to 11 hours.

  • Shortlist homes and book viewings before you fly.

The Mumbai to Dubai distance is 1,927.5 km, or 1,198 miles, from Mumbai airport (BOM) to Dubai International (DXB). You fly west-northwest over the Arabian Sea. Three hours later, you're there.

No wonder the route is so busy. India was Dubai International's biggest country market in 2025, with 11.9 million passengers. Mumbai tied third among its cities with 2.4 million, according to Dubai Airports' results.

Looking back on 2025, Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths said record traffic was "no longer an exception." The flight is the simple part, and most property trips go wrong in the planning. Our Mumbai exhibition guide shows how to meet developers before you travel.

Mumbai to Dubai Distance Explained

Airport to airport, the distance between Mumbai and Dubai is 1,927.5 km, or 1,041 nautical miles, the unit pilots use. We worked it out ourselves with the same Earth model that GPS uses. The exact airport map points came from Indian and UAE aviation officials.

Airline Figures Compared

Airlines publish slightly different Mumbai to Dubai km figures, & Emirates gives none at all. You'll find them on Air India's site & on IndiGo's and flydubai's route pages. The table sets them beside our own figure.

Every airline figure sits within 8 km of ours, under half a percent, so the differences don't matter for planning.

Why Figures Differ

Airlines don't explain how they measure. Our number is the shortest path over the curved Earth. Real flight paths follow airways, so they rarely match it exactly.

For everyday use, round the Mumbai to Dubai flight distance to 1,930 km. Asked in Hindi, "Mumbai se Dubai ki duri kitni hai?", the answer is the same: about 1,930 km.

Two Mumbai Airports

Mumbai has had two airports since December 2025. Check which one is on your ticket, because the Mumbai to Dubai distance shifts slightly with each.

Most international flights still leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (BOM), from Terminal 2. Navi Mumbai International (NMI) opened on 25 December 2025. Its first international route, to Abu Dhabi, started on 15 July 2026.

The two airports are 24 km apart. As of 15 October 2026, we couldn't find a nonstop Navi Mumbai to Dubai flight. Air India Express lists the trip as connecting, at about 17 hours 35 minutes.Mumbai to Dubai distance trip starting at a Mumbai airport departure hall

How Long the Flight Takes

Expect around three hours in the air on a nonstop flight. The airlines' own pages range from 2 hours 55 minutes to 3 hours 25 minutes.

Nonstop Airlines

Four airlines show nonstop flights on their websites. I've taken the arrival terminals from Dubai Airports' airline directory, checked on 15 October 2026.

  • Emirates: 35 flights a week, about 3 hours, landing at DXB Terminal 3.

  • Air India: three direct flights a day, though frequency varies, about 3 hours 25 minutes, Terminal 1.

  • IndiGo: four direct flights listed on its route page, about 3 hours, Terminal 1.

  • flydubai: five flights a week, about 3 hours 15 minutes, Terminal 2.

SpiceJet's schedule also shows Dubai flights routed through Mumbai. Schedules on this route changed a lot in 2026. A regional conflict disrupted Gulf flights from 28 February 2026. In May, Dubai Airports said UAE airspace had fully reopened.

Connecting Flights

A connecting itinerary can take many hours longer than a nonstop. The Navi Mumbai example above shows how long that can get. Compare total journey time first, then the fare.

If you've booked viewings, a long layover can cost you a whole day in Dubai. Fares change daily, so we don't quote them here.

Door-to-Door Time

The flight is short. The travel day isn't. Mumbai airport's departure guide asks international passengers to arrive 4 hours before departure.

Only the airport and flight rows come from official pages, so treat the total as a planning guide. And don't cut it fine. IndiGo shuts check-in counters 75 minutes before departure, while Air India closes international counters at 60 minutes.

Web check-in saves time at the counter. Air India opens it 48 hours before departure and closes it two hours before.

After landing, the Red Line Metro runs from Terminals 1 and 3, per Dubai Airports' Metro page. It allows two bags, including hand luggage. Terminal 2, where flydubai lands, has no listed Metro stop, so take a taxi from there.

Mumbai and Dubai Time Gap

Mumbai is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of Dubai. Both countries set their clocks against world time. India keeps Indian Standard Time at UTC plus 5:30, while Dubai's government sets local time at GMT plus 4.

Neither government lists a seasonal clock change, so the gap stays the same all year. When it's 14:00 in Dubai, it's 15:30 in Mumbai.

Outbound Clock Effect

Flying out, you gain 1 hour 30 minutes on the clock. That makes morning flights useful, because you land with most of the afternoon still ahead.

I'd still keep that first day light. You'll have been up since before dawn, and tired buyers make poor decisions. Two clocks showing Mumbai time and Dubai time side by side

Road, Sea and Rail Options

People do ask about driving or sailing. Flying is the only practical way. The Arabian Sea lies between the two cities.

No Road Route

There is no Mumbai to Dubai distance by road, because no road connects them. A land route would have to cross several countries and then the Gulf by sea. No rail link exists either. For any travel plan, use the air distance.

Ships and Cruises

We found no regular passenger ship between the two cities in official sources. We also found no official sea distance, so we haven't invented one.

Some cruise trips do stop at both ports. If you find one, confirm the dates on the cruise line's own site. The UAE also added a multiple-entry cruise tourism visa in September 2025.

Visa and Documents for Indians

Most Indians need a visa arranged before boarding. What you need depends on your passport and any other visas you already hold.

Visa on Arrival

Some Indians can skip the pre-trip visa. India's External Affairs Ministry says you need a valid visa or residence permit from one of nine places. They are the US, UK, EU or Schengen area, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore and South Korea.

The UAE's immigration authority, ICP, sets the fees in its visa update. The 14-day visa costs AED 100, and you can extend it once. The 60-day visa costs AED 250 before service fees, and you can't extend it.

Standard Tourist Visa

Everyone else applies in advance, usually through the airline, the hotel or a licensed travel company. Dubai's visa office, GDRFA Dubai, charges AED 200 for 30 days and AED 300 for 60 days, plus VAT. It says processing takes 48 hours.

If you'll visit several times a year, the five-year multiple-entry tourist visa is worth a look. One condition is a bank balance of at least US$4,000 over the previous six months. Still choosing between the two markets? Our sister site compares Dubai vs Mumbai on prices and costs.

Before you leave home, run through this short list.

  • Passport: valid for at least six months from the day you enter the UAE.

  • Visa or entry permit: approved before you fly, unless you qualify on arrival.

  • Exit ticket: a booked flight out of the UAE.

  • Travel insurance: medical cover that works in the UAE.

Money and Customs

Adults carrying more than AED 60,000 in cash or similar items must declare it to Dubai Customs. If you buy an overseas tour package in India, the seller collects 2% tax at source (TCS). That rule applies from 1 April 2026, on any amount.flight ticket and travel papers ready for a Dubai trip

Coming back, India's Baggage Rules 2026 let residents arriving by air bring in Rs 75,000 of goods duty-free. Declare anything above that at customs in Mumbai.

Plan a Property Viewing Trip

The short Mumbai to Dubai distance makes Dubai feel next door. That closeness tempts people to book first and plan later. I'd only fly with a shortlist and confirmed appointments.

Before You Fly

Settle your budget, areas, and property type while you're still in India. Book the viewings, then the flights.

Ask for every appointment in writing, with the unit number and address. Give agents your landing time in Dubai time, so nobody waits at the wrong hour. For one developer's current price ranges, read our Danube prices guide before you shortlist.

Group by Area

Dubai is spread out, and cross-city drives eat viewing time. Keep each day's viewings within one or two nearby communities. For family homes, our townhouse guide compares the communities.

Three-Day Plan

Give yourself three days. Here's how I'd split them.

  • Day 1, arrive and settle: land, check in and confirm tomorrow's appointments.

  • Day 2, view homes: check each unit's papers and whether someone lives there. Test the price with our valuation guide.

  • Day 3, follow up: ask your last questions, then leave plenty of time for the airport.
